WORD STUDY - SAW (sort, alphabetize, write)
Your child will sort his/her words into the appropriate column. After sorting he/she must put each column in alphabetical order and then write the alphabetized columns into the word study notebook.

Pick two activities to do to do with your HFW and record in your word study book. If the website or a hands-on activity is selected, please record in notebook

Your child will set up the correct number of columns in the word study book. The parent will call the words and the child will write the words in the appropriate column.

**Read 10 minutes each night as part of your homework.
Activities for High Frequency Words
(pick one and record in notebook on Wednesdays)
1. Rainbow write- write each word in pencil first. Then trace over it three times. Each time you trace you must use a DIFFERENT color.
2. Backwards words- write your words forwards and the backwards.

3. Pyramid Writing- home

4. ABC order- write your words in ABC order and then backward ABC.
5. Bubble letters- Write your words in bubble letters, words with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
6. Consonant and vowels- write each word in pencil. Go over the vowels in red and the consonants in blue.
7. Rhyming words- write your words and then come up with rhyming word for each one.
8. UPPER and lower- write your words normal. Then rewrite yourwords in upper case and then in lower case.
9. Across and Down- write your words across and down, sharing the beginning letter
10. Sentence- write a sentence with using your word. Underline the word in the sentence.
11. Type words on the computer. Type in a normal font, then re-type using a different font, or size or even color.
12. Play a game on www.spellingcity.com
